USC Managers Down UCLA In Thriller
1February 8, 2014 by Jacob Freedman
It was a thriller at the Galen Center Upper Gym on Thursday night, as a team of USC Basketball Student Managers held off their UCLA counterparts 48-45. USC led almost coast to coast, and was up 46-43 with a minute left before a series of missed free throws and a UCLA layup cut the deficit to 46-45. Trojan point guard Sam Fein hit a pair of free throws upon being fouled with 1.2 seconds left, and USC picked off the inbounds pass to seal the victory.
Over half of the USC Basketball team was in attendance, and freshman point guard Julian Jacobs was the team manager while Director of Basketball Operations Chris Capko coached the manager squad. The game time was originally set for 7:30 pm, but was delayed until 8:15 pm after the UCLA squad couldn’t find parking after refusing to pay to park in the Galen Center garage.
Adam Williams led the USC squad with 14 points, Fein had 12 points, and Cy had 11 points to pace the Trojans. Up next for the managerial squad is Colorado, as the Buffs play the USC Basketball team next Sunday, Feb. 16.
