At least three former USC forwards–Dewayne Dedmon, Marcus Johnson and Eric Wise–are now on NBA D-League rosters.
Dedmon played in five preseason games for the Golden State Warriors, averaging 3.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 10.3 minutes. Upon being released from the Warriors’ training camp, he was quickly signed by the D-League Santa Cruz Warriors via the “affiliate rule,” which allows up to three players released by an NBA team to be signed by the franchise’s D-League team.
With injury-prone big men Andrew Bogut, David Lee and Jermaine O’Neal playing for Golden State, Dedmon could be one injury away from an NBA Call-Up.
Both Johnson and Wise were drafted by the Iowa Energy in the third round of the 2013 NBA D-League Draft. The Energy is the affiliate of five NBA teams–the Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans and Washington Wizards.
